christmas

Our build up to Christmas began with decorating the classroom towards the end of November! Our school fair fell on the last Saturday in November so we spent the 2 days before decorating the classroom ready for lots of visitors!

The day before the fair we introduced the idea of writing to Father Christmas. This simple suggestion was enough to get even the most active boys interested in writing!

Imagine our surprise when Father Christmas arrived in the classroom later that day! All of the children were really excited to see him and his Chief Elf! He talked to all of the children about what he is busy doing, asked children what they wanted for Christmas and even gave everyone a sweet! (Thanks PTA...!)

To begin our exciting learning about Christmas we made a video to explain to the children about Advent...!

Rudy the trainee reindeer!

Picture
Anita can't miss out on a bargain so when she saw this reindeer with 40% off from Build-A-Bear she saw a fab opportunity! Rudy came from Father Christmas to keep an eye on the children before Christmas! The children were told that Rudy has magic fur and so they can't touch him without an adult or else he might lose his magic! Rudy is a trainee reindeer so would need some help to become a fully-fledged flying reindeer! Every day Rudy is going to get up to mischief to encourage the children to take part in lots of different activities!

Here's what Rudy got up to every day and what the children were inspired to do!

The Nativity Story

We made a very simple version of the Nativity story to help explain the meaning of Christmas to our children. What do you think?!
