Half a cup of salt, half a cup of flour and 1 cup of water. Add a few drops of green food colouring and mix! Wrap the dinosaurs in cling film to make them easy to remove from the dough! We let them air dry in the airing cupboard!
Picture
This life-size footprint is 2m by 2m!
Picture
We used a diplodocus as the children all knew about it!
Picture
We compared lots of dinosaurs including the huge Titanosaur!
Picture
Why not go on a dinosaur hunt and collect the sticks as you go?!
Picture
Although dinosaurs weren't captured in amber, we explored how insects were!
Picture
The children loved being palaeontologists and used salt, the radiator and the sun to experiment with melting the ice!
Picture
The children collected their own materials and added them to the dough!
Picture
The mystery of the eggs (see above!) was enough to get children writing!
Picture
Blow up balloons, cover with paper mache and decorate to make dinosaur eggs!
Picture
We talked about dinosaurs which were carnivores and those which were herbivores, then wrote about what our dinosaurs might eat!
Picture
We made salt dough (half a cup salt, half a cup flour and 1 cup water) and then added things that dinosaurs might eat to make poo! We used pasta to be bones!
Picture
Use brown paint to decorate the poo!
Picture
Use toothbrushes, forks and other tools to add detail to the fossils!
Picture
Or use paint!

Make a dino cave!

Picture
Welcome to our Dino Cave! We used a dark tent, brown paper, fake ivy, parcel packaging and a real plant to create a dinosaur cave! There's a 'dino corner' for researching and reading about dinosaurs and a space for cave paintings!

Inside the dino cave we added a little surprise. Using a UV pen we wrote key words that will only show up using a UV light! We're going to use it as an adult-led activity to ensure safe use of the torch but look forward to seeing where the children take the use of the pens inside the cave!

Here are some of our dinosaur activities - many of which were initiated by the children!
Picture
Picture
Picture
Dough dinosaurs (and their habitats!), a huge dinosaur mural, dinosaur footprints in the sand and independent dino writers!

Picture
We challenged the children to use different materials to create textures for their dinosaur's skin! They were then encouraged to write a label to describe the different textures!

Painting dinosaur poo!

We wanted to allow the children to dig for their own fossils and found this great set from Amazon. It comes decorated with a painted finish (branding) so we chipped it away and dirtied the block up! Then we presented the block to the children and said a friend had dug it up and sent it to us because they knew the children were dino experts!
