St. George and lots of dragons!
Happy St. George's day from Ace Early Years!
We engaged the children with talk of dragons in the school and steered them towards thinking about how we would trap the dragons. Soon enough most of the children decided to build traps and we were pleased to see teamwork, negotiation, imagination, creativity, physical skills, writing and even some measuring. We loved the idea of a tasty princess the tempt the dragons into the trap! And also the sign telling people not to step in the dragon trap!

During Friday Feedback one of the children chatted about why they love playing in the mud kitchen. We decided that we could get some writing into the mud kitchen play by using clipboards and making menus. This developed into the 'Dragon Kitchen' idea when we knew we'd be looking at dragons!

The children arrived at school to find this letter! It generated lots of excitement and enthusiasm around helping the other children and teachers in school! We created a 'Dragon Alert' that we all learned, complete with actions to help us remember before lots of us chose to write posters to help the rest of the school!

We used salt dough to make dragon teeth! The children loved copying the dinosaur teeth and icicles to make their tooth pointy and then used a pencil to make a hole for some string. Once they are baked we're going to use them to measure length, weight and capacity!
