Learning at Home
April 2020.
We recognise that supporting your child's learning at home can seem a bit daunting - but don't worry, we're here to help! You shouldn't feel under pressure to get lots of learning completed every day - all children will be in the same boat and schools will be ready to continue your child's learning journey when they return to school. However, we know that lots of parents would love some support with what activities to provide their children while schools are closed. The simple answer is - lots of opportunities to play and explore! You can use the following document and pick and choose whichever ideas your child wants to. Your child's teacher will be more than happy to help with further direction and support. Have fun! ![]()

We also provide our parents with a weekly overview that goes into a bit more detail as to what they could do each day. Here's an example of the overview. Please note, some of the links require registration from a school but other alternatives are available on the documents above!

The BBC Bitesize website is full of great videos, activities, online games and other resources. Although it isn't all aimed at Reception age children, we've rounded up some of the resources that we've found that might be useful for home learning. The PDF is completely linked to the resources, so just choose a topic, click and then off you go! Have fun exploring!

2. After you've learned the story, you'll be ready to start innovating and creating a slightly different version. This video shows you how you can change one thing at a time to create your own version. This will help you to learn about story structures and give ideas for future independent story writing!
|
3. Once you've learned your own version of the story you could write it down and become an author! The video above shows you how to make a zigzag book. You could also make a zigzag book of the original story if you wanted to!

Number of the Day is perfect to practise number knowledge and understanding of numbers from 10 to 20. Each video focusses on a different number and uses visuals to show how to represent the number. The videos look at numbers that are fewer and more, one more and one less and how you can begin to understand how to add and subtract to make that number.
