Guy Fawkes

We made a little video using Puppet Pals on the iPad to help us to introduce the ideas behind celebrating Guy Fawkes night! It's a bit daft and the accents are very weird - sorry in advance!

Making bonfires

As soon as we mentioned Bonfire Night the children were really keen to build their own! Outside we were really lucky to find that the groundskeepers had been in over the holiday and cut some of the trees back! The children enjoyed going to find the logs and transporting them back. Following this lots of children worked together ("No - it needs to be oval shaped!") to build a bonfire, adding sugar paper flames!

Inside we provided twigs and tissue paper and the children enjoyed making mini-bonfires!

Bonfire Night safety

Anita and I had fun making a Bonfire Night safety video to help teach the children how they can keep safe around bonfires, fireworks and sparklers!

Diwali

We made 2 videos to help introduce the festival of Diwali to the children! Firstly we created a basic introduction to Diwali, why people celebrate the festival of lights and what might happen during the celebrations!
Following this we made a video to tell the story of Rama and Sita!

We also had fun drawing pictures from the story, making paper chains and also making clay diya lamps!

Nocturnal animals

We read the story 'Night Monkey, Day Monkey' and this led to us talking about nocturnal animals. Here's a video that we made to teach some facts about nocturnal animals.
